SOHN READING SOLUTIONS

Diana Sohn has over thirty years of classroom experience with students of various ages. In 2013, Diana returned to school to obtain her masters degree in education and reading endorsement because she noticed a number of her intermediate students were struggling with reading. However, she found that her higher education still left her lacking the skills needed to help these students. She finally found what she was searching for when she attended  Barbara Steinberg's training on dyslexia, After that, she continued her education in the Science of Reading through classes, webinars, and reading.  She is Orton-Gillingham (IMSE) and LETRS trained.  Along with reading and attending webinars, she is currently taking a reading foundations course through EOU to strengthen her knowledge. Diana is passionate about teaching students to learn how to read and is constantly seeking new knowledge to help students.

For the past six years, Diana has served  as a reading specialist and literacy coach for a small rural district.  During this time, she has implemented SOR with  staff  and implemented UFLI in the primary grades.  Many of the staff at the elementary school have received Science of Reading professional development through LETRS, EOU Pepper course, as well as a variety of mini PDs provided by Diana.  As the lead for Title I services, Diana has also ensure that Title I and LRC aides have received professional development in the Science of Reading so they can better serve students.   

During the summer, Diana has tutored elementary students . She enjoys working with students  and  seeing the joy in their faces when they begin to break the reading code and gain confidence in themselves.

In her spare time, she enjoys weaving,  gardening, spending time with my family and beloved dog, Brandy.
